在成立之初的71年里，一直都是愛達(dá)荷州唯一的一所大學(xué)，一直到1963年這一狀況才被改變，而從1909年愛達(dá)荷大學(xué)設(shè)立法學(xué)院起，直至2012年秋季，愛達(dá)荷大學(xué)法學(xué)院都是該州唯一的法學(xué)院——2012年秋季，愛達(dá)荷協(xié)和大學(xué)開始設(shè)立法學(xué)院并于當(dāng)年秋季開始招生。愛達(dá)荷大學(xué)的研究生教育從1896年便已開始，第一屆研究生只有四名——兩名男生，兩名女生。
時至今日，愛達(dá)荷大學(xué)已經(jīng)成為了擁有10各學(xué)院，跨30多個領(lǐng)域，提供有140多個學(xué)位項目，學(xué)生人數(shù)1.1萬多人的綜合性大學(xué)。
除主校區(qū)莫斯科外，愛達(dá)荷大學(xué)還在科達(dá)倫（Coeur d'Alene），博伊西（Boise），雙子瀑布（Twin Falls），和愛達(dá)荷瀑布（Idaho Falls）都設(shè)有分校區(qū)。此外還在波斯特瀑布（Post Falls）擁有一個研究院，以及其它眾多遍布愛達(dá)荷州的辦公室、教學(xué)點等。

費用與獎學(xué)金
愛達(dá)荷大學(xué)的獎學(xué)金主要由學(xué)生所申請的系所或項目提供，其形式以TA、RA為主。學(xué)生在申請時應(yīng)主動與系里的導(dǎo)師或招生辦聯(lián)系，以期獲得由導(dǎo)師或系里提供的RA、TA獎學(xué)金。愛達(dá)荷大學(xué)的獎學(xué)金形式以Merit-based為主，該獎學(xué)金無需單獨申請，自動隨Offer發(fā)放，其形式主要以TA和RA為主。一般而言，PhD學(xué)生的獲獎幾率要遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)大于碩士學(xué)生獲得的幾率。
